This project took place over the summer and autumn time of 2024, and is now released on steam!
This game has lead to a good working relationship and friendship with JaB games, and is the first official YellowDuckAudio job.
I worked on the music and sound design for this game, mixing to european standard loudness levels (-23 lufs).
Both Emlis and Call of the Cinder Circus were group projects for teams of final-year students in the University of Huddersfield. I volunteered as an external (being a second year music student) and created the music and sounds for these projects.
The first of the final-year game projects: Emlis.
This game is about a slime whose goal is to defeat corrupted elementals (Fire, Poison and Ice) in order to save the forest. For this one in particular, the slime sounds have been tremendous fun (at the cost of many watermelons). Fortunately, this game is continuing development after the project's official ending for the university, so I will be continuing working on it.
the second of the final-year game projects, taking place in 2024:
This one is quite a creative premise, and revolves around money in the office, with which you buy time in the dungeon, which can then give you upgrades to the office (an endless loop of profit). I worked on the sound design with Callum Barr, a fellow student, but composed the soundtrack alone.
This game ended up winning the Pitstop Productions award for game audio in the Games Republic student showcase of 2024!
I have enjoyed making the coffee slurp sounds the most (regenerates health in the dungeon). I think it's my favourite piece of sound design I've ever made, and can be heard in my sound design demo. I also really liked making the music for this one, a link to the sound track should be in the 'portfolio' section

I worked in the Southwell Music Festival for a week of summer each year from 2021. This year (2024) I was the technical assistant, and was involved in live sound setup in a market square, with different artists performing every hour.
In previous years, this job involved setting up lighting and speakers, as well as selling tickets and moving stages (general festival manual labour).

During the 2022-2023 academic year, I sung as a tenor with the Leeds Minster Choir. This involved having a high level of sight-reading for the services which occurred three times per week.
In 2022 I took part in the Minster School production of Les Mis. I took the Jean Valjean and Marius roles in alternating casts. This was an excellent experience for developing my confidence, singing, and taught me new skills in dramatics. It was a trial by fire for an introduction to theatre, but I loved it! (I'm on the left in the photo)
This was my first videogame project in which I made the music and sound. I did it in conjunction with students from Staffordshire University. you can hear what I did in the portfolio sections (both music and sound design).
This took place in the beginning of 2023.
Once a week, I ran a session with a group of first-year students, this started with the 2023-24 academic year. My role was to assist the first-years with any problems that may arise, from technical assistance for work, or personal issues. This experience has lead to some new friends in the university, as well as contributing to my time-management and inter-personal skills.
For this job, I help run open days and tours around the university. Involving answering questions (mostly from parents) about anything and everything from student life to university provisions.
It isn't particularly related to music or music technology, but it is a job none the less.
(took place in the 2023-25 academic years).
From around the age of seven, I was a treble in the Southwell Minster Choir. This lasted until the age of 14. (I look quite different now, but I am right in the middle at the front)
This allowed me to develop discipline, time management, teamwork, leadership (as longest-serving head chorister to date), and above all, how to sing. This was my route into music as a career, and I am eternally grateful for my parents for all of the dropping offs and picking ups, and making me get out of bed for the morning rehearsals!
